Power Affirmations

One of the easiest ways to get what you want from life is to use affirmations.  They’re quick, they’re easy to remember, and when you use them correctly, they can radically transform every aspect of your life.

Before we get into how to use affirmations, let’s make sure that everyone understands exactly what we’re talking about.  In other words, what exactly ARE affirmations?

Affirmations are simple statements that describe the substance of what we would like to experience.

For example, if we want to have more money in life, a good affirmation would be “I am receiving more and more money into my life.”

If we would like to experience greater health, a good affirmation would be “Perfect radiant health”.

As in the last example, a good affirmation doesn’t have to be a complete sentence, it just has to be a statement of what you want to experience.

Many people, when they are first introduced to the concept of affirmations, wonder how they could possibly work since they are really no more than words.  What power do words really have, and how can affirmations affect the experiences that we have in life?

The easiest way to demonstrate the power of affirmations, is to remember a time when you were unsure of yourself, when you weren’t sure if you could successfully complete a task or not.  Most of us have had the experience of having another person recognize our quandary and affirm to us “You can do it, I have faith in you.”

How did you feel when that person spoke those words to you?

Most of us would feel better – more confident, more powerful, and ready to tackle the task at hand with a much greater chance of success now that we have more confidence in ourselves.

Words in themselves have no power at all.  It’s our response to those words that demonstrate power.

The human mind is a complex thing, and the way it operates continues to amaze scientists and lay people alike.  Sometimes you think you know how it works, but then suddenly something different happens and you realize that your mind can do much more than you thought.

But motivation is only 1 way that affirmations work to help us transform our lives for the better.  There is another level on which affirmation work, and that level is far more powerful.

Modern scientists are finally discovering what mystics have been teaching for eons.  The human mind has the power to directly alter the world around us.  In modern terms, this is the nature of quantum physics.

To understand this, we have to quickly discuss the nature of physical reality.

The ancient Greeks taught that all matter was composed of tiny particles that they called atoms, and that there was nothing smaller than an atom.  They didn’t have any equipment that allowed them to see what an atom was like, so they theorized the existence of atoms and postulated their properties.

In other words, they guessed that atoms existed and that they were the ultimate building block of physical reality.

As scientists created equipment that allowed them to work on smaller and smaller scales, they saw evidence that suggested that atoms were NOT the smallest particles in the universe.

No, they didn’t actually SEE atoms.  Nor did they see protons, neutrons, or electrons.  They created experiments where they expected a particular set of results, and the results turned out differently than they expected.  (Ever have that happen?)

So, they postulated a new theory, that atoms were composed of smaller, sub-atomic particles and attempted to create experiments that would demonstrate the properties of those particles.

To make a long story shorter, the experiments that scientists have been doing for years have led them to believe that physical matter is not actually real at all, but is a direct manifestation of our thinking.

2 different scientists could perform the exact same experiment with the exact same equipment, but if the two scientists EXPECTED different results, that’s exactly what appeared to them.

It comes down to something called the Quantum Principle.  In simple terms, this says that matter exists as A PROBABILITY ONLY until we turn our attention to it.  Only at that time does matter appear to be solid and stable.

And the hinge upon which all of this is based is the state of
our own EXPECTATIONS!

Okay, so how does this apply to affirmations?

It boils down to the way in which expectations are created.  By repeated exposure to an idea, our minds become conditioned to trust that idea to the point where we begin to expect to find the manifestation of that idea around us.

Have you ever heard the phrase “He told that lie so often he began to believe it himself”?

If you continually tell yourself “I am getting rich”, eventually you’ll believe it and start doing things that will make you rich!

If you continually tell yourself “I’m stupid”, guess what – you’ll eventually believe it and you’ll stop using the intellectual brilliance you were born with.

Here’s something that most people forget about when they talk about affirmations.  You don’t have to be the one repeating them.

If someone around you continually repeats a phrase, such as “You can do it” or “You’ll never amount to anything”, then your mind will become conditioned to those thought just as surely as if you were repeating them yourself.

That’s why it’s important to associate only with positive people that will support you and your goals.  You don’t want to have someone continually telling you that you can’t succeed.  You’ll do much better being with someone that believes in you.

And guess what?  Affirmations can be programmed into your mind completely automatically too.

Studies have proven that a technique called subliminal programming will condition your mind to believe short affirmations without your conscious involvement.

Today, there are many ways to program your mind for success, for good health, for happy relationships, and for a multitude of other goals.

However you choose to use affirmations to transform your life, approach the process as a scientist.  Try an experiment for a period of time, such as 2 weeks or a month.  If that experiment doesn’t turn out the way you wanted, try something else until you get the results you demand.
