The Key to a Powerful Imagination
To recap, the process I’ve been talking about these last few months is this:
- Relax as much as you can
- Imagine what you want in vivid detail
- Expect positive results.
As explained in my book, Choose To Believe, the last step COULD stand on it’s own. However, the first 2 steps help you more easily take that last one.
In fact, the reason I’ve been going on so much about this process is because it cuts the work of changing your beliefs to the absolute minimum. In other words, it’s a lot easier to expect positive results when you give your inner mind a vivid experience of what you want.
The reason for this is simple.
Psychologists have long told us that the subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between a real event and one that is vividly imagined. (Note the word, ’vividly’.)
And quite honestly, nothing shapes our beliefs more than experience.
The main problem most folks have when trying to believe they’ll be successful in something new (like attracting abundant prosperity, loving relationships, or vibrant health) is because they’ve never had those experiences, or it’s been so long ago, they can’t remember.
Remember a time when you FIRST experienced a breakthrough. 9 times out of 10, your response included something along the line of, “Oh, so THAT’S what it’s like.”
That’s why so many times people say they can’t tell you what love is like, but you’ll know it when it happens.
There’s a big difference between the way most folks visualize abundant prosperity, and actually holding a check for $100 million in your hand.
Many folks feel they “cannot” visualize anything, and any images they create in their minds are fuzzy, dim, and weak.
The process I’m sharing with you today will change that. It’s one I shared last year, but it bears repeating.
Now, I will admit this process has limits. In other words, if you cannot see physically, it won’t help you see mental images any better. But as long as your physical senses are working, this process will help you strengthen your mental senses.
Here’s the process.
First, select a small object. A piece of fruit or other food is perfect because it involves all of your senses.
Start by looking at your chosen object. Study it. Memorize it.
When you feel you have memorized every detail of the object, close your eyes and picture it in your mind.
Switch back and forth between viewing the object with your physical eyes and viewing it in your mind. Each time you close your eyes and view the object in your mind, the image will be clearer, more vivid, and more realistic.
Repeat this process with each of your senses.
Study how the object feels, its textures, its hardness, its size and weight. Notice any sounds the object makes, either on its own, or in response to being handled. Incorporate the senses of smell and taste as well.
Again, the more you study the object with your physical senses, and then recreate those sensations within your mind, and switch back and forth over and over again, the more you will improve your ability to create vivid experiences within your mind.
And this will help you better communicate what you want to your deeper mind, which is where the true Power lies.
We’ll continue with this next time.
