In Monday’s post, I talked about the relationship between willpower and indulgence, and how they relate to manifesting your desires.
Today, I’m going to cover the role emotions play, and how to make sure the final result is at least as good as you envisioned it.
A common misconception is that if you don’t specify EXACTLY what you want without any loopholes, you’re bound to get something you didn’t really want.
One example is the person who manifests a bunch of money, but gets it as an insurance claim because a family member dies, or they get involved in an accident that leaves them crippled for life.
This doesn’t happen because you left out some details. It happens because of a negative emotional state that existed during the manifestation process.
One of the main reasons I suggest you elicit strong positive emotions like love, joy, pleasure, and gratitude is because these emotions act as a reference point to fill in whatever details are not specified during your manifestation process.
Here’s how it works.
When you sit and visualize the thing you want –whether it’s money, love, respect, peace, vibrant health, a new car, or anything else — any detail you leave out will be supplied by the energy of your emotional state.
If you feel anger, jealousy, guilt, remorse, fear, irritation, or even “rushed”, the TONE of the final manifestation will be negative, and may include some nasty surprises.
On the other hand, if you focus on your desired objective while in a state of peace, love, joy, or even sensual pleasure, the character of the final outcome will be more enjoyable.
In fact, you could put yourself into a highly indulgent emotional state and just focus on the idea that “Life is WONDERFUL”, and this will attract many enjoyable blessings, affecting EVERYTHING in your life for the better.
And while this is a great reason to make sure you’re feeling good when you strive to manifest something, it’s not the only reason.
Another reason is because when we feel good, we naturally relax even deeper.
And when we are deeply relaxed, we are closer to the source of our own Divinity.
Contact with the Divine Essence is essential, because this is where you get the Power to manifest.
When you feel angry, jealous, or irritable, you are essentially cutting yourself off from your own Divine Essence, and your manifesting Power stays out of reach.
When you allow yourself to indulge in positive emotions, your connection with the Divine Essence is stronger, and therefore your ability to manifest is also stronger.
This is actually one of the best reasons to allow yourself to indulge in positive emotions while manifesting.
The fact that these types of emotions also make the end result more enjoyable is just a bonus.
Emotions play another role in manifesting as well.
As you go about your business outside of your manifesting sessions, your emotions act as a radar to guide you along the best path to your goal.
Emotions are a 2-way channel for subtle information.
During manifesting, your emotions send out information regarding the nature and tone of your request.
During the rest of the time, your emotions are telling YOU whether you are moving closer or further away from physical representations of your beliefs.
Yeah, I know. WHAT????
I can’t say that following your emotions will automatically lead you to the manifestation of your desires, because that wouldn’t be strictly accurate.
Our lives are a direct manifestation of our beliefs. If we believe that Life is good, then we are naturally attracted to good and positive experiences.
If we believe that life is hard, and that we have to struggle for every little thing we get, then our emotions will tend to direct us towards experiences where we have to struggle to get the things we want.
In doing so, our emotions also lead us AWAY from situations where getting what we want would have been easy.
Now, if we’ve done our manifesting work well, and we have shifted our beliefs to support the manifestation of our desires, then yes, following your emotions will lead you to the manifestation.
However, if your beliefs do not yet support that, then your emotions will lead you somewhere else.
The easiest way to know whether your emotions will lead to TOWARDS or AWAY FROM your desired manifestation is this.
It’s a process I taught in my Choose To Believe material called a “Belief Scale”.
First, you have to calibrate the scale before you use it.
Calibrating your belief scale is a simple matter of relaxing (to make contact with your inner self), and asking yourself a series of questions where the answers are either “absolutely yes” or “absolutely no”.
- Am I a human being?
- Am I a squirrel?
- Is my name Alan?
- Is the sky blue?
- Does 2+2=15?
If you are relaxed and pay attention to your body, you will FEEL something different when you ask about an “absolute yes” question than you do when you ask about an “absolute no” question.
For me, there’s a feeling that either rises or falls in my torso. For ‘yes’ answers, I feel it near the top of my chest. For ‘no’ answers, I feel it lower in my waist.
Some people feel either hot or cold. Heavy or light. Or hard or soft.
Relax and pay attention, and you will find your own belief scale.
Once you know where the 2 ends of your scale reside, you can use it to evaluate your beliefs about other things, like whether the thing you are working to manifest will actually happen.
Let’s say you’re working to manifest $10,000 by the end of the month. Once you’ve calibrated your belief scale, ask yourself:
Will I get an extra $10,000 by the end of the month?
You’ll get a feeling that indicates the level of belief you have in this desire manifesting.
And that will tell you whether your emotions will lead you TOWARDS or AWAY FROM the desired objective.
Fascinating, isn’t it?
I’ve met some folks who were so disconnected from their inner selves that they had difficulty using this technique.
Relax as deeply as you can, pay close attention to what’s happening within you, and at least pretend that you’ll feel a response.
Eventually, you will.
And once you do, you’ll have a tool that can be used in many different ways.
In fact, this is the first step towards what many call psychic abilities.
