God Is Love
God is Love, and so being, can only be reached through Love.
A friend and I were talking recently about the Power of Prayer and why it is so important to hold the feeling of Love while praying. The reason that most people don’t get the answers they seek in prayer is because they pray while feeling hurt, angry, lonely, or guilty.
Prayer is more than the act of making temporary contact with God, however, and every moment of our day counts towards the overall ‘prayer’ of our lives.
When most of us think about God, we think about an Infinite Being, with Infinite Love, Wisdom, and Power. Few of us ever acknowledge the Divine nature of the people and things we experience daily. And yet, with a little logic, we reach the understanding that everyone and everything we encounter is an expression of God.
Let’s consider this for a moment, and see where it leads. I’m sure the result will astound you.
Most accepted creation stories begin somewhat like “In the beginning, God created the universe and everything in it.” If God created the universe and everything in it, what did He use to create it with? Since most of us will agree that God was the only thing that existed before the universe was created, then logic shows that the only thing God could have used to create the universe was Himself. And so, God took a part of His own essence to create the universe and everything that exists today, including us.
This is one of the basic teachings of the Keys To Power system. When you understand that you are a manifestation of God (created from God’s own essence), you have a much easier time creating whatever experiences you want in your life through prayer. Students of the Keys To Power will recognize that the essence of God that was used to create everything was Power itself. This essence can be called anything, but since it is the basic Power we use to direct our lives, calling it Power is a matter of convenience.
But Power is not the only aspect of the essence of God. Love and Wisdom are also 2 very important aspects of this perfect essence. And just as we are manifestations of God’s Power, we are also manifestations of God’s Wisdom and Love.
One of the techniques in the Keys To Power system is to tap into the Infinite Wisdom of God. The only reason that this technique works is because we ourselves have all of the qualities and characteristics of God within us. Thus, we have the capacity for Infinite Wisdom, and can make use of this to make wise choices in our lives. Not sure which job opportunity to take? Confused by all the choices of business opportunities that are available to you? Wondering if you should marry the person you’ve been dating? Tap into the Source of All Wisdom within you and find all the answers you need.
The question that comes up the most is “How do I tap into the Source of God within me?”
Growing up in a country that is primarily Christian oriented, most of my experience is with that religion. I also tend to run into more people who profess to follow this religion than any others. And so, I will use it mostly for my examples. Other religions usually have similar teachings, and so I will leave it to the practitioners of these other religions to interpret what I say in terms of their own religion.
In the Christian Bible, the ministry of Jesus the Christ had 2 main components. Love and Faith. Christ taught that as long as we had faith, then whatever we asked for in prayer would be given to us. But He also said that we were to love everyone, but most importantly, to love God “with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your soul”.
Many of His followers were able to perform the same miracles that He Himself performed – healing the sick, casting out ‘devils’ (curing mental illness as modern people would see it), and more. Considering this fact, then the message that Christ was teaching must be the central Key to tapping into the Power that we seek. And if this is so, then just by following these 2 simple principles we should be able to perform even minor miracles, such as increasing our financial prosperity, developing better health, creating harmonious relationships, and attaining peace of mind.
But as many people ask, “How do I have faith?”
This was a question I struggled with myself for many years. The question can be rephrased to be “How do I believe in something I’ve never experienced?” This question led to some startling answers. It came down to 2 options. Either 1, you simply choose to have faith, which means that you pretend that you believe, or 2, you hypnotize yourself into believing.
Many people are able to use the first option, and in fact, most of the New Thought Movement is based on this idea. Affirmations and affirmative prayer are both based on the idea that we can choose to believe in something we’ve not yet experienced. But these techniques are also somewhat hypnotic in nature. Students of most New Thought systems are taught to repeat their affirmations over and over again until they see results. The constant repetition is a standard hypnotic principle, very similar to how advertising persuades you to buy things you don’t really need.
Hypnosis is well known, and there are many books, courses, and websites devoted to this topic. Using hypnosis for tapping into the Source of Power is simply a matter of constructing an effective script, recording that script, and using it to lead you through the process. Most people use a script that hypnotizes them to believe that they are able to make a strong connection to Power, and that anytime they wish to direct Power, the proper connection will be made.
But what about the other main principle of Christ’s teachings? What about Love? Amazing enough, this is the most important principle of all. Although you can get some results by working with Power using the principle of faith, adding Love to the formula increases the effectiveness of your work many times over. Love is the force that unites the lover with the loved. By loving God, you become one with God. By loving other people, you bring yourself into harmony with them, in effect merging your spirit with their spirits.
Just about everyone I talk to understands this in theory. It is in implementing the theory in practical terms that they generally have a problem. It’s easy to understand that by loving God, you will become closer to God, and that by loving other people, you will become closer to them as well. But exactly how to you do that? How do you love God when you don’t know what God really is? And how can you truly love other people when they do so many things that upset you, disappoint you, or make you downright angry?
The answers to these questions bring us to a somewhat surprising result. Remember when we talked about how God used His own essence to create everything and everyone that exists today? If you remember this fact, you’ll notice that everyone and everything you see around you is an expression of God. Yes, everyone, including those people that really upset you and seem to do everything they can to make your life miserable! By loving the people around you, you are in effect loving God. And by rejecting those people, you also reject God.
In Christ’s ministry, He teaches that anything we do to those around us, we also do to Him and to God. Whenever we feed a hungry person, or give shelter to one in need, or take advantage of someone’s faults, we do the same to God as well. This teaching is based on the concept that we are all part of One Infinite Being, which we generally call God. Another teaching that is also based on this idea is the concept of the various churches being part of the body of Christ. Anyone who has read the Seth material produced by Jane Roberts will also be familiar with this idea.
Putting this into practical application still leaves us with the question “How do we love someone who is unworthy of our love?”
To answer this question, another question has to be asked. “What makes a person worthy of love?” Is it not a choice that we make? “I like the qualities of this person, but I don’t like the qualities of that person, therefore this person deserves my love and that person doesn’t.” or is it more like “This person is expressing more of the qualities of God than that person, thus this person is worthy of my love and that person is not.”?
How do we really know what the qualities of God are? Wouldn’t any judgment that we make be based on our limited understanding of God? If we truly had the Infinite Wisdom of God, we would understand that all people are worthy of love, simply because they are an expression of the perfection of God.
So we come to the question “How do we love someone we do not feel like loving?”
Simple. It’s a matter of having the faith that that person deserves love, and we make the decision to love that person. Or we hypnotize ourselves to feel love for everyone regardless of what they do or who they are. Only then can we truly love God, and only then can we bring ourselves closer to God.
And this is also true for everything in our lives, not just people. Love everything and everyone and you will move closer to God, thus gaining access to even more of God’s Power, Wisdom, and Love.
And here’s a bonus. The more we experience Love, and the more we think loving thoughts and feel loving emotions; the more Power we are directing to create loving experiences in our lives. By loving we attract love. By giving support we also receive support. By focusing our minds on that which is good, we experience more good in our lives. We magnify that which we focus upon. This is another of the core concepts of the Keys To Power system. It is also an important teaching in the ministry of Christ.
There is an Infinite supply of Love. Don’t be stingy with it. Share it with everyone and watch your life become a magical experience.
