Are You Missing Out?

When you find yourself burdened with too many things to do, what is the best way to handle it?  Do you plow through the list as quickly as you can, or do you selectively choose which things are “important enough” to take care of, and not worry about the rest?

Myself, I do a little of each.

As an example, just yesterday I compiled a list of things I’d really like to get done in the next two months.

  1. Rebuild Coptic website
  2. Master Classes brochure
  3. Master Classes testimonial videos
  4. Prepare bio & photo for Fall Lecture Series
  5. Prepare brochure / flyer for Social Dance Studio clients
  6. Weekly — record, process, and upload Sunday talks from Coptics
  7. Prepare talk for Muskegon Unity
  8. Participate in Muskegon Unity Expo
  9. Lay out book for Linda’s client
  10. Finish laying out Carl’s new book
  11. Write new Harmonic Prayer book
  12. Prepare Harmonic Prayer video series
  13. Edit video from Harmonic Prayer workshop
  14. Prepare new meditation series
  15. Process waterfall videos (source material for video meditations)
  16. Capture new video of nature and motion (source material for video meditations)
  17. Organize video backgrounds on computer (source material for video meditations)
  18. Finish rebuilding my own website (AlanTutt.com)
  19. Rewrite Opt-in page for 30-Day ecourse
  20. Officially set up a YouTube channel for my work
  21. Start recording 300+ blog posts as videos
  22. Weekly — write new blog posts, and record as videos
  23. Start recording books as video series
  24. Start writing prayer series and record as videos

The list is organized with jobs I’m doing for others near the top, with my own projects further down the list.  My own projects are organized in order of priority.  In general, I’ll work from the top down, taking into consideration the different due dates for each project and what I can expect to get as a result of doing them.

I already know I’m not going to get all of this done in the next two months.  I may not get it all done in the next four.  Especially when you consider that just ONE line item is writing a new book!  I’m figuring about a month for that one alone.

This list also does not include any of the “house projects” that need to get done, nor does it mention getting out and enjoying the summer, both of which are things that will not get ignored.

The point of all this is that when you find yourself with an overabundance of work, do you allow it to take over your life, or do you add things to the list such as “enjoy time with my spouse every day”, “take off at least 1 day each week”, and “remove anything from my ToDo list that will not serve my best interests”.

I definitely recommend taking time off to enjoy life whenever possible.

Now, there IS a possible exception to this.

What if you’re in a REALLY tough situation, and if you miss a very important deadline, you could lose your home and everything you own?

Frankly, this is almost never the case.  However, I can imagine that it COULD happen.  So what do we do in that case?

First, you have to get in control over your emotions, because if you don’t, you won’t be nearly as effective, and you would be less likely to succeed.

I remember reading (on more than one occasion) that when truly successful people encounter calamity, their first response is to get away from the situation long enough to gain perspective.  Maybe this means they go on vacation, or perhaps they shut themselves into a room for a few hours and do nothing.

At first, I thought the idea was absolutely ridiculous.  My thinking was that if you have a problem, you need to deal with it as quickly as possible.

Over the years, I’ve learned the wisdom of taking a break — even going on vacation if necessary — to gain a fresh perspective, center yourself, and connect with the Divine within.

If you attack a problem while feeling anxious, nervous, worried, or fearful, you’re more likely to screw it all up even more.  If you take time to connect with your Divine Essence, you gain access to a source of wisdom that is never wrong, and you’re more likely to do the right things at the right time in the right way, and come out much further ahead.

A couple of years ago, I put together a free gift package to help those who may find themselves in dire straits.  It contains a guided meditation to give you the experience of going on a 2-week vacation in just 15 minutes, at the end of which, you are gently guided to access your Divine Wisdom to solve whatever problem you may be facing.  This package also includes a copy of my book, “Choose To Believe“, which outlines a practical course of action to solve all your problems and manifest the life of your dreams.

There’s also another audio program designed to rev up your brain, giving you more thinking power, so you can find the best solutions quickly.

You’ll find this free gift package at http://PowerKeysPub.com/powerpack.
